As part of our church’s ongoing exploration of beauty, TCC’s Sabbatical Team would like to invite you all to join what we think will be a really fun family-oriented outing planned for Saturday, May 14, to a very unique location: Storm King Art Center in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Just about a 90-minute drive away, Storm King is a 500-acre outdoor museum that features breathtakingly large-scale sculptures and site-specific earthworks by contemporary artists. The center’s defined vision is to “nurture a vibrant bond between art, nature, and people, creating a place where discovery is limitless.” If you watch this brief video, we think you’ll get a sense of just how inspiring the place is likely to be.

Here are a few details about the outing:

  • We’ll leave TCC around 9:30 a.m. and caravan to the museum in New Windsor, NY, for a roughly three-hour visit (or however long you’d like to stay).
  • Admission is around $20, but determined by how many people are in a vehicle; for instance, two passengers pay $46, three pay $65, and four pay $80.
  • You are welcome to bring your own lunch as there are plenty of places to picnic at the center. Alternatively, you can buy food at the on-site Outdoor Café; here is link to the menu.

If you’d like to come along, please notify Lisa Gruttadauria so we can anticipate how many vehicles will be in our group. In the event of rain, we’ll postpone the trip by a day, leaving shortly after the Sunday, May 15, church service.

Should you have any questions, contact Chip Warren, who has been to Storm King and written about it on our church website. Otherwise, we look forward to spending the day with many of you for what we’re sure will be a great opportunity to celebrate spring while enhancing our appreciation of beauty!
