Bio: Ashley Sosis is an organist because a scheduling conflict placed one of her undergraduate classes in a pipe organ practice studio at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music and Dance. Instantly enamored with the scale of construction, tonal diversity and expressive capability of the Gress-Miles pipe organ in that room, she began organ study and accepted her first organist position that same semester, picking the studio lock with a credit card to practice after hours. An organist, pianist, trumpeter, flautist and soprano, Ashley Sosis is a graduate of the Music Education Program at the Hartt School of Music of the University of Hartford and a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists. She studied organ with Mrs. Cheryl Waddsworth, Dr. Larry Allen and Dr. Patricia Snyder at Hartt, Dr. Michael Corzine of Florida State University and harpsichord and organ with Dr. Julia Harlow of the College of Charleston. While living in Connecticut, she worked as a live accompanist for ballet classes and toured the Northeast as a solo singer and pianist with the Victorian entertainment troupe, The American Magic Lantern Theatre. She has appeared as a featured soloist with Myrtle Beach’s Long Bay Symphony, and in recitals throughout the east coast. She has taught high school choir, orchestra, band, guitar, drama, AP music theory, and served a number of churches as music director and organist, including the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Tallahassee. She is currently the director of music and organist for Trinity Church of Myrtle Beach, SC where she lives with her husband Clifford, dog Daisy and cat Mr. Kitty.
